Mission Statement
Coty's Treasures began several years ago under the name of Old Photos Galore (or "OPG"), which started out as a small collection of original photographs and postcards and has since grown into a large, private archival collection of old photographs and documents. When we began, we had under 100 items. Today, we have more than 1000.
We are dedicated to the rescue and proper preservation of old
snapshots, photos, portrait & group photographs. We often find these items at
antique stores, thrift stores, garage sales and estate sales. Coty's Treasures
also recovers old letters, postcards, documents, photo albums, scrapbooks and
yearbooks, among many other old personal possessions.
Often times, these artifacts are identifiable by name and location. It is our
goal to make available family heirlooms that may have otherwise been lost. This
service is intended to provide unique images to those descendants and relatives
(of the photo subjects) who may be interested in family items which cannot be
found in the usual genealogical resource centers such as libraries or
cemeteries.
Note that most photograph items we offer are reprints, not originals, although we will sell originals from time to time. The reason we sell reprints rather than originals is that as scanning/copying technology improves, we will use the original photographic images to make the best quality copy reprints possible. In addition, by serving as an independent archive, Coty's Treasures makes all items available and easily accessible to all interested parties.
Obviously, we are not a large company. Our sales are low - but so is our overhead! We do not "profit" per se from the sales of our items. Rather, we turn around and purchase more treasures with what we receive in sales. Our ultimate raison d' être is to provide the highest quality genealogical items to whomever is searching for them, while preserving the originals for future generations.
